Divina's Story
Before I turned the age of 8, I had been to Canada to Arizona, and on to Wisconsin before settling back at my hometown of Santa Cruz, CA where I attended Branciforte Elem. From 1981-1985, my Mom and I moved around a lot. I started out at Harbor High School in my hometown, then transferred to Dos Pueblos High in Goleta, CA., and then transferred to Beverly Hills High where I got kicked out a year and a half later for being a "Bad Influence " on the student body...??? Which is pretty hilarious because I didn't know much about anything other than the beach, enjoying nature, playing the violin, riding my bicycle, and drinking beer every now and again!
Seeing as I ditched BHS school for most of the time I dwelled there, hanging out at Santa Monica High and Fairfax for 2 years, I ended up attending Fairfax High School. I graduated in 1985...'Class of '85 and Still Alive!'
After graduating, I attended Santa Monica College for a brief stint and realized that I absolutely needed to leave Los Angeles. was deemed the class punching bag by and called the 'Ugly Duckling'...It was great to see the look on their faces when they realized that I was that person!
I knew that I was missing something in my life and I felt that I needed to find my Dad in New Mexico, and so I moved to Santa Fe, NM in the hopes to find out more about my Native American heritage and what it meant to be Zuni. Sigh...I met my Dad and my brother once under some bizarre circumstances..but I had been told by the tribal elders that I needed to be patient to meet my Dad and his family until the last child had moved out of his home...it hasn't happened yet. I lived in Santa Fe for 2 years where I met my current husband and was best friends with. I left New Mexico to travel the U.S.
From New Mexico, I went to Arkansas to dig for crystals...that was pretty cool and interesting! Went from Arkansas to Boston, MA and then on up to Bar Harbor, Maine. Met some real cool and interesting people along the way, and learned a lot about people and myself. I call this adventure the "Magical Mystery Tour".
